About us
Helen Hannah started Dinkie Dannies as a hobby in early 2004. Once she had learned the processes involved in taking casts and the process to turn them into cold cure metal casts Helen started by practising on family and friends' babies.
It was not long until Helen realised that there was quite a demand for her casts and so she started to advertise in the local area and offer the casts for sale to the general public.
Helen says “I have always been fascinated by sculpture, at school and college I could always be found in the pottery workshop during lunch breaks and after school hours. When I started work in an office I went to night school for years just to be able to get inside a pottery workshop once more. When I discovered life casts in my adult years it was like coming home. I love taking the baby casts and making them into something to treasure forever. The casts are a snapshot in time, something you only get one chance to have and when you have it, you never regret it.”
Dinkie Dannies is a family business located in Camberley, Surrey, right on the Hampshire/Surrey border. We undertake commissions of any size and to suit most pockets. We can cast a simple hand or foot, right up to a full set of family casts, or take several of your child over a period of say a year, so you get to capture them growing.
We usually come to visit you, with a selection of our work for you to view prior to committing to having a cast taken. Home visits can be made at no extra charge within 20 miles of our workshop; should you live outside of our area or prefer to do so you can visit us at the workshop. If you do require a home visit but live more than 20miles away we can come and see you for a modest charge to cover travel costs.
Here at Dinkie Dannies we feel that our size makes a real difference to the service you receive. You will always speak to the owner of the business and only be visited by fully trained life casters who understand both the properties of the materials they work with, and the likely reaction of the baby being cast. The casts will always be handmade from start to finish by the life caster who met you and your family, making it a real quality product.
