Casting Kits - further information

What makes these kits better than cheaper ones elsewhere?

The frames I offer are the same deep frames I use for my professional service.  When you buy most casting kits you will be offered a frame 35mm in depth.  Mine are 50mm deep and made of solid wood, in oak, beech, pine and mahogany.  The very deep frame makes it much simpler to mount your casts in the box without needing to sand away vast amounts of the cast to fit.  You can also cast baby to the ankle instead of just the sole of the foot and still fit the whole cast inside the box frame.

I use professional lifecasting alginate and the bag provided contains enough to take eight to ten casts of your baby. Plenty for practice so that the final cast has a good result, or maybe even enough to make extras for gifts.  I experimented with colour change chromatic alginate, but decided against it.  While the colour change does help with getting the mixing times right, it contains peppermint as it is intended for oral use.  Peppermint can be harsh on sensitive skin and I didn’t want to risk even one baby in several hundred having even a mild reaction to the impression material.  In addition the colour change die can stain the final plaster cast, so my kits contain the same professional alginate that I use for my commissioned work.
