TERMS AND CONDITIONS

THE SMALL PRINT.

Making a booking.

To make a booking for a life-casting appointment you will need to telephone, email or message Helen Hannah at Dinkie Dannies.  Once an appointment has been made we will endeavour to arrive at the place the casting is to take place in good time.  If we are carrying out a home visit please bear in mind that traffic delays etc are outside of our control, although we will do our best to inform you if we are running late.

Should you have booked an appointment in our studio we expect you to arrive in a timely manner, or advise us of any delays to your journey.  We can usually accommodate delays, but it is good to know in case another customer is booked to visit us after you.

Please give us as much notice as possible for a casting date.  The time of year and work load will determine how much notice we need in order to make a booking and often we can work at very short notice.  However, it is preferable to have around two weeks' notice for a long distance home visit.

Cancelling an appointment

Should you need to cancel your appointment due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances we would appreciate as much notice as possible.  We understand that with small babies it isn’t always possible to let us know days in advance.  However, in the case of a home visit, if we have already left to come to you before we hear about the cancellation we will make a charge of 50p per mile travelled for the round trip to and from home as well as a £15 admin charge.  We reserve the right to waive the admin charge should another date be made for a casting and kept to.

Non-order when a home visit has been made

At Dinkie Dannies we take pride in every piece we create.  We bring samples of our work with us when we come and visit you at home, and unlike many other life-casters we do not ask for a deposit until we have met and you have chosen what you would like us to cast.

We do this as we are confident that you will have looked at our work on-line before calling us, and already know the quality of our work.  We also want you to be confident you are making a purchase from a reputable business.

In the very rare event that we made a home visit and you decided not to make a purchase for whatever reason, we reserve the right to charge you for the home visit.  This charge would amount to 50p per mile traveled for the round trip plus an admin fee of £15.  Payment would be expected within 14 days of the invoice being issued.

Deposit and final payment for castings

We ask for a deposit of 50% of the cost of the completed piece when we get together to make the moulds we need to get started.  This payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer when we get together.  The payment of the balance will need to have cleared our account before we make delivery, or paid in cash on delivery.  We will give you several days notice that a piece is ready for delivery in order to allow you to make a bank transfer or post a cheque to us in time for it to clear.

We are happy to discuss payment terms should you wish to make smaller regular payments towards a piece.  Please contact us directly to discuss individual requirements.

In the case of a large piece finished in solid bronze, lead crystal or nickel plate we may need to arrange different payment terms. This will be made clear to you at the time of booking an appointment.

Health and Safety

We are happy to provide you with health and safety notes for all products we use in the casting process should you require them.

When we get together to take the moulds needed to make the casts we would ask you to be mindful of health and safety.  There may be trip hazards etc in the place we are making the moulds, you may need to hold your baby or child for a time while the moulds are taken.  Throughout  the processwe will do our best to insure your comfort and safety, but we also ask that you are mindful of your surroundings, and your own comfort and advise us if we need to change positions etc.

The mould making materials we use are completely non-toxic and safe to use on your own and your baby’s skin.  However once cured tiny pieces may break off and could, if ingested cause a choking hazard.  For this reason we will ask you to clean your skin and that of the baby’s once we have finished casting and satisfy yourself that there is no possibility of choking on any part of casting material left on the body.

Copyright

All images of casting work used on this website are of pieces created by Dinkie Dannies over many years.

Every image on our website, Facebook page and other social media is copyrighted to Dinkie Dannies and may not be copied or used by anyone else without our express written permission.  Anyone found to be using our images without permission will be asked to remove them immediately and if this does not happen we will use the means at the disposal of our professional body the Association of Lifecasters International to have the work removed from others websites etc.  We reserve the right to make a charge for the time and costs incurred in getting stolen images removed.

We are more than happy for customers or potential customers to share our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media posts etc.  However, we expect the “share” to be of the full post, so that others can see that the work originated from Dinkie Dannies.

When the finished life casting is delivered to you we are happy for you to share photos of the work with your family and friends as long as you credit Dinkie Dannies with the work.  We retain copyright of the finished piece even after delivery.

Should we need to or be asked to create a re-useable silicon mould of the piece we will return this to you on completion of the life cast piece.  This can be used to make further copies of the work should you need to, but we would ask that we are given first refusal to make this additional work rather than a third party.  We always offer a discount for multiply copies of our work where a re-useable mould has been provided.

Gift vouchers

We are able to provide gift vouchers for the purchase of a life-casting.  These gift vouchers have a use by date of one year, but we are always happy to take into account special circumstances and chat to you on a case by case basis.

Should you wish to spend more on your life-cast than the original voucher intended then we are happy to take a further payment when the moulds are taken to start work
